FAQs
The purpose of SECG is to provide a professional home to local coaches who are seeking professional development, support and networking opportunities.
We began as a smaller Guildford Coaches Group in 2007, founded by Kim Gregory and Angela O’Connell. We have grown to cover the whole of the South East and beyond and we formally changed our name in 2022.
We welcome coaches from all perspectives: Our membership includes new coaches, some very well-established coaches, some accredited and others not.
Yes, we welcome those who are new to coaching. Of particular interest may be our New to Coaching special interest group.
To find out more about membership visit out Membership page here.
We offer a very comprehensive package to our members, an annual membership fee of £60 gives you access to the following (for the period of 12 months):
Our membership offer is regularly reviewed and we are always open to new ideas. We hope this offers outstanding value and that you will decide to join us.
The group is managed by a Board who are all volunteers. Do let us know if you would like to help in any way.
There are supervision special interest groups that start periodically. Paid members are welcome to join one of these at no additional cost.
You will find a list of meetings and events, in date order, on the SECG Website, under Events.
Yes.
Many of our events are open to non-members, but some are exclusive to members. You can see this on our Events page. There are many other benefits to membership including special interest groups and resources. Please consider that we are a membership group and we rely on this to be able to continue to provide our services. If you find you enjoy our community, we would love you to join and be a part of it.
Our in person events are often held in Guildford Trinity Centre and these events start at 9.30am with networking from 9am. We aim to finish by 12pm or 12.30pm.
If you are driving, the closest car park is the Castle car park on Sydenham Rd, GU1 3SR. On leaving the car park through the pedestrian exit, turn left up the hill, walk to the end of the building, and after about 10 metres, turn left on the path on the far side of the access road. This leads into Trinity Churchyard. Follow the path round to the right after 20 metres, past the Royal Oak pub, then left down towards the church. The Trinity Centre is on the left about 30 metres down.
If you are walking, the Trinity Centre is at the top of Guildford High Street. As you walk up the hill, you will see Sainsburys on the right hand side, then a large Church. You will then see a pedestrian access on the right. Walk up the steps and you will see Trinity Centre (glass doors) ahead of you on your left.
Go to our Events page and click onto the title of the event you want to attend. There will be an Order Now button towards the end of the event information. Select the ticket you wish to purchase and you will then be taken to your basket. Members have a discount coupon that they can use.
We offer Continuing Coach Education Certificates (CCEUs) from the International Coach Federation (ICF) at most events. These are given to members at the end of the meeting.
In addition we offer additional Professional Development courses and special offers which can be found here. These are often provided by members of South East Coaching Group. If you would like to offer services on our Professional Development page, please contact Nick, Membership Director.
We are delighted to support coaching and business events being run by our members. We can include information on our website, LinkedIn group and Facebook page.
